How to Help

You Can Help
To continue fulfilling the urgent need for guide dogs, a network of volunteers and sponsors is critical. Any assistance, be it time, money, or services, is both needed and appreciated. If you would like to participate, read on to learn about the many different opportunities open to you!

Be a Puppy Raiser
The raisers perform an essential service; without raisers there would be no guide dogs. There is excellent support and guidance for people who have never raised dogs before. Guiding Eyes provides classes, a manual, videos and evaluation meetings to help you do it right. Puppy raisers can be families, single people, can own other pets or have no pets, and need not be experienced. Vet expenses for the puppy will be completely covered.

[Boy with two puppies] Be a Puppy Sitter
Puppy Sitters are an important part of the Guiding Eyes team. A puppy sitter is an individual or family that watches a puppy on a short-term basis, either when a raiser is temporarily unable, or to help provide additional varied experiences to the pups. Sitters participate in the puppy socialization classes, and have access to the same invaluable support network that the raisers enjoy.

Be a Sponsor of Regional Expenses
The local regional team has a variety of expenses. Any assistance, be it time, money or services, is both needed and appreciated. You can donate your professional services such as printing of educational materials, advertising, and fund raising. Visit our Wish List to see if you can help!

Be a Food Or Equipment Sponsor

While the puppy's veterinary services can be donated by area vets, other sponsors are needed to help defray the cost of food and equipment. You can make a one-time donation or sponsor a puppy for the 12 to 20 months that it lives with a raiser. Food or equipment sponsors can be families, individuals, or businesses.
